UNO
This was your number one pick for games to play with your friends and fam, and we totally get it! It’s a rowdy, fast-paced game that is sure to bring out the best (and probably worst!) in everyone playing. With wildcards, skips, reverses, and the infamous ‘+4’, it’s a race to see who will get rid of their cards first, and who will be left with too many to fit in their hands.
Three tips to win (!):
Pay attention: the point of Uno is to get rid of your cards the fastest, so you really need to pay attention to what’s going on around you. Did someone with lots of cards just change the colour? Change it back on your turn! Did the person before you have to pick up a card? Use a reverse card so they have to draw again. Basically, do everything you can to make sure your mates lose.
Have an emergency stash: keep your ‘good’ cards (like +2 and +4) for later on in the game. That way, if you see someone with a light hand, you can slam that bad boy down and make them pay.
Change colours: remember, if you’re watching your opponents, they’re likely watching you too. So try not to give too much away, and change your colours regularly. Not only will that confuse other people, but the theory here is that you normally get an equal number of cards of every colour. If you change colour often, you’ll have more colours in your hand as an option to play, minimising the amount of times you’ll have to pick up cards!

CLUEDO
The classic whodunnit board game, Cluedo, is a murder mystery set in a mansion (on a board!) with different characters, rooms, and weapons. It’s such a popular board game that it even got turned into a movie in 1985! It’s definitely a game that takes some thinking, and will have everyone suspecting everyone!
Three tips to win (!):
Eliminate every go: any time you don’t make a suggestion is a wasted turn! So, even if you’re not sure, have a guess when you can and eliminateelimate whatever you can from your list.
Keep an eye on others: make sure you’re listening when other people are guessing, that way you can cross things off your list too. For example, if you already have the revolver card, and have previously crossed off Mr. Green, if someone else guesses “Mr. Green, in the library, with the revolver” and gets shown a card to disprove that...then you know it’s the library and you can cross it off.
Use the secret passages: in a few rooms there are secret passages that link directly to other rooms, without you having to roll the dice. Use them! This lets you make two suggestions in a row...

MONOPOLY
Well it wouldn’t be a board game round up without Monopoly, right? It’s a global favourite, with over 300 different versions, including everything from Game of Thrones to Chelsea FC, Mario Kart to Star Wars, and even different city versions! Who knew a game that was invented in 1904 to “illustrate the Georgist concepts of economic privilege and land value taxation” would prove so timeless….LOL.
Three tips to win (!):
Show no mercy: no really! Never forget that the object of the game is to win by bankrupting everyone else. So you have to be dedicated to destroying your family members or friends at every roll of the dice. Make your decisions based on how best to worsen their situations. Don’t give people chances. And wipe them out when they’re down. Y’know, just wholesome family fun.
Buy , buy, buy!: always buy properties when no one owns any of the set. Always buy properties when it means you’d get two of the same set. Always buy properties if it blocks someone else from completing the set. There’s a reason the Monopoly man’s name is Rich Uncle Pennybags (seriously!)
