Since we began in 2009, with just 158 participants, our programmes have grown all over the country and now, over 600,000 young people have taken part in NCS. Together, we tackle some of the biggest issues in our country, with an incredibly positive impact:
Cultivating stronger, more integrated communities by fostering understanding between young people and their neighbours from different backgrounds:
- 78% of young people who attended NCS in 2018 felt more positive about people from different background to themselves
Building essential skills for work and life, making sure young people can get ahead and are prepared for whatever the future holds – think of it as investing in our country’s future talent:
- 70% of participants felt more confident about getting a job in the future as a result of going on NCS
Engaging young people in social action in their community as well as the democratic process, creating more understanding of their responsibilities as a citizen and their potential to affect change:
- NCS participants have now given over fourteen and a half million hours in social action
We work with others to constantly evaluate every element of NCS, ensuring the programme is evolving to meet the needs of young people, communities and society as a whole. Take a look at some of our key reports and evaluations below.
