Include this article in your Skills Builder Journal. It could help you develop...
This week we’ve learnt a lot about different types of sleep and dreaming (check out our blogs on lucid dreaming and sleep paralysis) so it’s only right we create a playlist to make sure you get the best zzzz’s possible! Check it out below, along with some of our favourite sleep story apps to help you get to dreamland…
CALM
Calm offers around 100 different sleep stories, ranging from 25 to 40 minutes long, and read by loads of different people like Stephen Fry, Matthew McCounaughey and Tabitha Brown. The stories are also paired with calming background music and sound effects, which are certain to make you super sleepy.
HEADSPACE
Sleepcasts by Headspace allow you to ‘disengage from your hectic day and calm the mind and body in preparation for a restful night’s sleep’. The podcast-like stories are designed specifically to create a calming environment to help you drift off. So, you might be touring through a Californian desert or hanging out by a beautiful lake for 45 to 55 minutes at a time. Each one begins with a wind down, which could be a meditation exercise, or a breathing technique, followed by a narrated landscape and soothing soundtrack.
SLUMBER
Slumber is the app that puts you to sleep. Literally! And their library is full of stories, meditations, soundscapes and music designed to make your mind a quiet, peaceful place, so you can fall asleep happily. You could listen to a fairytale, a babbling brook, take a gondola ride through Venice or one of 350 other different experiences.
THE ULTIMATE SLEEP PLAYLIST
If listening to stories isn’t your thing, we’ve compiled a playlist of the best put-you-to-sleep soundscapes, ASMR, white, brown and pink noise, and music. Take a listen below.
