It’s likely that you’ll be with your family and friends over this festive season, so why not invoke a little friendly competition with some of the best online challenge games! They may have gone viral online, but they’ll be a chance for everyone to put down their screens for some good old fashioned IRL fun! How many have you already played, and what will you do over the holidays?
TIGHTS BOWLING
Swing time baby!
What you’ll need:
Two pairs of tights (or really long socks!)
12 filled water bottles
2 tennis balls
How to play:
The object of the game is to knock all your water bottles down before your opponent. The challenge? You’ve got to knock them down with your head! Firstly, line up your water bottles in a row, six to a side. Then, put a tennis ball in one side of your tights, so the ball is right down in the foot. Put the tights over the top of your head, using the ‘spare’ leg to wrap around and keep the top in place. Then it’s go time! The first person to knock all their bottles down by swinging the ball wins! No hands allowed! See it in action here:

CUP FILL
Don’t overflow it!
What you’ll need:
One cup, any size
Jug of water
How to play:
Take it in turns to pour water into the cup. You can choose how little or how much you want to put in, as the aim of the game is to not be the one who overflows the water! So, you want to put enough in to catch someone else out. Will you be nice and do it drop by drop, or pour until it’s riiiiiight on the edge? Check out how the Three Lions did against The Lionesses:
MONEY BALL
How much will you make?
What you’ll need:
Flat surface (table preferably!)
Plastic cups (up to you how many)
Money/prizes
Ping pong balls
How to play:
First up, it’s a good idea to decide what you’re playing for - this one went viral as most people were playing for different amounts of money, but you could use anything! Why not put different chocolate bars, or even ideas for fun days out in each cup. Once you’ve decided the ‘prizes’, it’s time for set up. Label each cup with whatever your prize is, and sellotape to the end edge of your table or flat surface. Then, take it in turns to let your ping pong balls go from the opposite edge of the table. You get to keep whatever prize belongs to the cups your balls land in. You might come up a winner, but you never know, they might all roll off the table completely! See how its done below:

CUT THE FLOUR
It’s all about balance!
What you’ll need:
Flour
Bowl
Flat surface
Small balancing object
‘Cutting’ utensils
How to play:
Create a sandcastle out of flour - pack it into the bowl, and upturn onto a flat surface. Place your balancing object on top - this could be a square of chocolate, a coin, or a random object, but make sure it’s smallish and fits nicely in the middle of the castle. Then, take it in turns to cut the flour. You can use a knife, a debit card, even an envelope. Cut as big or as small a wedge as you want. The goal is to not be the one who makes the balancing object fall! Here’s how it’s done:

THE COIN FORK
Guaranteed chaos, every time!
What you’ll need:
A fork
Some coins
Flat surface
How to play:
This one will definitely cause some chaos and frustration…in the best way possible! At one end of your table or flat surface, place a fork, with the tines facing up. Then, take it in turns to roll a coin from the opposite side of the table, with the goal of getting the coin in between the tines. Feels impossible, but it can be done! Check out how the Leeds Rhinos (finally!) did it:

SNOWBALL SCOOP
All the fun, none of the cold!
What you’ll need:
Two blindfolds
Two bowls
Two large spoons
Cotton wool balls
How to play:
Scatter all your cotton wool balls on the table or floor. On opposite sides, lay out a bowl and a spoon for each competitor. Put your blindfolds on and then it’s time to scoop! Set a time limit - say 30 seconds - for the players to scoop as many ‘snowballs’ as possible. Because they’re so light they won’t be able to tell how many - if any at all! - that they’re getting. Most snowballs scooped at the end wins! Take a look at how to play:
