2024 Films and TV

Is there anything better than a good movie or snuggling up to binge the latest Netflix series? We think not. So, thank-you 2024 for not letting us down. Here’s what’s coming up…

Spider-Man: 2 Nov 2024 

If you’re a fan of Spider-Man then 2024 is already looking good. The animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year on Disney+, launching in November, promises to take audiences back to Peter Parker's high school years. 

Not content with the small screen, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be out in all good movie theatres. Starring Oscar Isaac and Shameik Moore, the film picks up where 2023’s Across the Spider-Verse left off. Rumour has it you might have to wait until late 2024 to see it though. 

While you wait, contemplate this, “No one can win every battle, but no man should fall without a struggle”.

Deadpool 3: 26 July 2024

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and Leslie Uggams, The Merc With a Mouth is back — and so is Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine!? How and why Jackman is unsheathing Wolverine’s claws after the acclaimed swan song that was Logan, we don’t know, but we can’t wait to see it.

Borderlands: 9 August 2024

With a star-studded cast including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, get ready for some outer space shenanigans as Eli Roth takes the helm for this adaptation of the popular and wacky video game series. 

Stranger Things, Season 5: TBD!

Netflix announced that production for this new series began on 08 January 2024, so while there’s the chance we may have to wait until 2025 to watch it, some insiders are saying it could be released this year.

Games Being Released in 2024

Tekken 8 (15+) | 26 January

Tekken 7 was widely considered to be the definitive 3D fighter of the modern era. Will Tekken 8, with its updated graphics and new characters, live up to the hype and take it to the next level? With new mechanics like Tekken 8's Heat system and a health recovery feature similar to Bloodborne's where players can regain health by attacking enemies.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (16+) | 29 February

If you loved Final Fantasy 7 Remake, then get ready to immerse yourself in the second part of the story. Will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth be greeted with equally rapturous applause as the first part? We only have to wait until February to find out!

A level Exams 2024

Will you be doing A levels this summer? Lock these dates in your diary:

• Exams start: Monday 13 May
• Exams finish: Monday 25 June
• A level results day 2024: Thursday 15 August 

UK Bank Holidays

Fun fact: Bank holidays were (once upon a time) the days when financial institutions were closed. These days, with online banking, that’s no longer relevant but most people still get the day off work or school.

The Big Sporting Events of 2024

Football. Tennis. The Olympics. The summer of 2024 is full of the best sporting events. 

• Euro 2024 dates: The UEFA European Football Championships are set to kick off on 14 June and last for a month. 
• Wimbledon Tennis Championships: The tournament at the All England Club will start on 01 July.
• Paris Olympics 2024: These start on 26 July.
• 2024 Summer Paralympic Games: Beginning on 28 August.
