The Best Worst Festive Films
When it comes to films during the festive time, there are some absolute iconic ones...and then...well, there’s the ones that we all just love to hate. Whether it’s because they’re super over the top cheesy or just plain ridiculous, they might make us cringe, but we keep coming back to them year after year. We asked you which films you love to hate (or just love!) and what you’ll be sticking on this year…
The Snowman
A classic short, animated film all about a little boy who makes a snowman on Christmas Eve. The snowman then comes to life and takes the boy on an adventure to the North Pole to meet Father Christmas! The big difference between this and most festive films? There’s no speaking. The film is just set to a musical score instead. We’re walking in the aiiiirrrrrrrrr...

Elf
Funny guy Will Ferrel plays the iconic Buddy the Elf in this film. Apart from, he’s not really an elf at all. He’s a human, living in the North Pole, amongst the elves of Santa’s workshop. When Buddy finds out he’s actually human, he goes on a quest to New York (“through the seven levels of the candy cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gumdrops, and then I walked through the Lincoln Tunnel”) to meet his real family. Lots of shenanigans, adventures, goofs and laughs ensue...

How The Grinch Stole Christmas
This adaptation of the Doctor Suess books sees Jim Carrey take on the role of The Grinch - which took several hours of makeup and prosthetics a day to achieve! - a nasty creature who lives in a mountain at the top of Whoville, a town dedicated to loving Christmas by one and all. The Grinch doesn’t like the Whos, who live in Whoville, and he especially doesn’t like Christmas. So, he sets about trying to steal it. But will he succeed? Or will little Cindy-Lou Who break through his furry green armour?

Shrek The Halls
Ogres don’t celebrate Christmas. That’s a fact. So, when Shrek is tasked with putting on a Christmas celebration for Fiona and the fam, he’s stumped. With a little help from Donkey, and a copy of ‘Christmas For Village Idiots, A Step-By-Step Guide’, Shrek sets out to make it a holiday to remember. Of course, he’s met with hijinks, snowball fights, and all sorts of mishaps along the way. Will Christmas be saved or will it end up in the swamp?

Santa’s Castle
Based on L. Frank Baum’s (he wrote The Wizard of Oz) book ‘The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus’, Santa’s Castle is about a writer, writing a story for his young children, who asked for a Christmas tale. He comes up with the idea of Santanapping. “Cancel christmas, or you’ll never see Santa again!” the bad guys sneer. You’ll see over the top FX makeup, CGI fairies and so, much, snow...
