Offline Mode: Making The Most Of Festive Downtime
Safe to say this year has been a weird one. And this festive period may not be the same as it usually is. So, we all deserve a little break, right? And maybe that also means some time away from screens. Here’s six steps to switch off, reset and enjoy the seasonal downtime…
Winter walk:
There’s nothing quite like a winter walk. Getting bundled up in layer upon layer and going out into the crisp fresh air. Why not get the fam together and go for an adventure - and hey, if there’s a spot to grab a hot chocolate on the way, all the better!
Play time:
You might have spent a lot of lockdown playing games online, taking part in quizzes or trying to get out of virtual escape rooms. So why not switch off this season and take it old school. Crack open some board games, pass out a pack of cards or take it even further back with games like Simon Says!
Dust it off:
End this year with a clean start for next year by cleaning out your room and finding old clothes you no longer wear, books you don’t want to read or things you’ve grown out of. Then, pack them up and donate them to a clothing bank or charity shop.
Get creative:
Draw, paint, write a song or bake a cake. Use your imagination and run with it! You could even start a (friendly!) competition with your family - all paint the same thing, or use the same recipe and see what comes out best!
Give back:
Take a look into the issues that are important to your community. Then, see if there are ways you could volunteer your time. Is there a food bank you could donate festive food to or give your time to this season?
Reflect:
Take a look back at this year and write down what it’s meant to you, what you’ve learnt from it and how you’ve grown.
