Every young person here has proven themselves an awesome NCS ambassador, and we can’t wait to see what they will achieve this year as our 20 Social Action Leaders. Here’s a bit more about them and their reasons for continuing their journey with us.
After experiencing a leadership role during NCS, Eve decided that she wanted to continue along this path. She wants to ensure that all young people gain access to the skills and training necessary to further their life and career. She’d like to see NCS expand worldwide.
Taylor loves challenging herself and enjoyed how social action allowed her to help others and overcome personal challenges. She’s now keen to carry on with her own journey as a Leader and help others in the community who can often go unnoticed.
For Denya, NCS was an opportunity to make loads of new friends. She met so many amazing people and has done a lot of good for the people in her community with her NCS initiatives so far. Now she’s become a Leader she plans to be an inspiring and supportive team member and looks forward to seeing what good things come from it.
After finding a new sense of confidence in himself and his leadership skills through NCS, Trystan joined his RYB to see what more he could do for his wider community. As a Leader he would like to inspire all NCS grads to have a greater impact on their community.
Shannon’s NCS experience has allowed her to build a network of inspiring, like-minded people and helped her to become a confident, strong and independent person. As an NCS Leader she hopes to mentor the RYB and help create brilliant social action projects.
Soham completed NCS in 2018 and will continue his journey in a new leadership role. We can’t wait to see how he – and his team – will help inspire the next generation of young people.
Chloe says that NCS showed her that there are people out there who can bring out the best in anyone. She started out just wanting to help one person, and then there was a ripple effect. That ripple has now expanded out to inspire the next gen of RYBs.
Amy completed NCS in 2018 and will now continue her journey on a leadership level. She’ll join the team in helping to make a difference to their community through social action projects.
After her summer programme Megan wanted to engage in further social action projects, so she applied to join the RYB. She thinks it’s important that every young person’s voice is heard and wants to motivate everyone to make change together.
After completing NCS in 2018, Nuala decided to keep her NCS journey going as a Leader. She’ll be taking part in more social action projects and inspiring the next generation of young people.
The NCS summer programme transformed Thalia into the the most confident and kind version of herself. She then implemented a very successful social action project in Reading and Oxford and now can’t wait to apply everything she’s learned so far in her new role as an NCS Leader.
For Lauryn, NCS was the perfect opportunity for young people to help bring their community together – and it quickly became one of her proudest achievements. She’s now looking forward to inspiring others in London to reach their full potential and put themselves out there – without letting the fear of failure get in the way.
Pubudika from Hounslow says NCS opened her eyes to the positive impact of social action and the rewards of taking the initiative. She’s looking forward to working with passionate, courageous and interesting people from around the UK and would like to be a role model for future grads.
There’s a lot of stuff Jasmine has now achieved that she believes she would never have done if it wasn’t for NCS. She’s built loads of new friendships with people all over the country, lived away from home for the first time and developed so many new skills. Her passion for social action was born on programme and she can’t wait to do more as an NCS Leader.
Bryce saw NCS as a great way to develop and grow as a person and meet lots of new and different people. As a Leader he wants to get as many young people involved with NCS and social action as possible.
Before NCS Lucy never thought that her ideas could make a difference. Now she realises they can, and that actions speak even louder than ideas. By becoming a Social Action Leader she wants to transform people’s stereotypes of young people by providing a positive outlet for them.
After completing a social action project on his NCS journey, Akiel will now be working alongside fellow leaders to help the next generation of young people make positive change across the country.
After meeting amazing people and gaining useful knowledge and life skills throughout his NCS experience in Lincoln, Jonathan decided he wanted to continue giving something back. He thinks that as a Leader, making a difference to someone’s life is what it’s all about.
Taja’s time on NCS had a profound effect on her and sparked a passion for social action and creating positive change within her Liverpool community. As an NCS Leader she’s looking forward to inspiring others whilst continuing to develop her own skills alongside like-minded people.
Jess believes that NCS provides a space to learn more about the issues facing Britain as a whole and opens your mind to new points of view. For her, it seemed like the natural next step to take on the role of NCS Leader. She wants to continue to broaden her opportunities and perspectives and aims to inspire others along the way. She’s a keen advocate for inclusivity and firmly believes in the power young people have to make a difference.
