Every young person here has proven themselves an awesome NCS ambassador, and we can’t wait to see what they will achieve this year as our Communication Leaders. Here’s a bit more about them and their reasons for continuing their journey with us.
Seeing the positive impact that young people could have on their local community during NCS is what inspired Reanna to go on to become a Leader. Now she would like to encourage others to come together and do the same.
Lewis says that NCS gave him the confidence to come out as gay to his best friend. He saw RYB as a chance to contribute to empowering others and is now working on a project tackling the stigma around periods.
After making so many new friends during her NCS experience, Abi knew she had to continue her journey by joining her RYB and eventually become a Leader. “It’s just something bigger that I want to be a part of,” she says.
Lauren created life-long memories during her NCS experience and knew she wanted to continue her journey by encouraging others to take part. As a Leader she’s now getting to fulfil this dream. Lauren would also like to focus further on mental health issues in Peterborough.
Cara gained confidence by mixing with people from all over England during her NCS journey and jumped at the chance to start helping others via RYB. As a Leader she would love to promote the amazing work that young people do and increase the opportunities for grads.
Hungarian-born Laura found that NCS helped her to become more confident and develop skills that’ll continue to help her in every aspect of her life. As a Communications Leader she would like to empower the youth voice in both media and politics.
James’ NCS experience helped him to grow as a person and when the opportunity to apply for RYB arose, he jumped at it. Now, as a Leader, he’s excited about continuing his involvement and creating fresh NCS experiences nationwide.
Multi-lingual musician Daisy, who signed up for RYB on a whim, was over the moon when she got her place. She hopes becoming a Leader will allow her to empower people and help them to discover that their potential to have a positive impact is limitless.
Llywelyn says he met the most talented, inspirational, and all-round loveliest people he could imagine with NCS. He joined RYB because he wanted to bring some of that joy to others, and became a Leader to have an opportunity to make a tangible difference.
Sean’s journey through NCS has taught him self-development and how to explore and improve on his weaknesses. He really enjoys the social action aspect of NCS and now hopes to inspire others in the same way.
Meeting people outside of her bubble inspired Jasmin to discover how NCS works beyond the summer experience. Through her leadership role she hopes to highlight what young people can achieve with social action and show the world how NCS can really change lives.
Meeting so many people dedicated to making a positive impact on NCS inspired Sophia to become the best version of herself. She became a Leader to have an impact nationally – inspiring young people to come together and achieve great things.
After a presentation about youth boards on week two of NCS, keen rock climber Michael signed up that night. He’s now looking forward to mentoring the next RYBs to implement great social action projects.
Trainee pilot Ben’s NCS experience made him realise how easy it is to get involved and help his local community in Hertford. Becoming a Leader allows him to continue his involvement and help young people across the country understand how great NCS could be for them too.
Laura proved herself to be a brilliant NCS ambassador and is now continuing her journey as a Communication Leader. We can’t wait to see what she achieves.
NCS gave Elise a sense of purpose, something to fight for and a new-found confidence – something she now wants to help others with. With sexual violence and harassment being an issue close to her heart, her main aim as an NCS leader is to improve the standard of sex education in Northern Irish schools.
After her time on NCS, Scarlett will now be working alongside her fellow Communication Leaders to help young people across the country make change for the better. We look forward to seeing the difference she makes.
